School Building Project

Background

The Sangkhim Canaan School at Kampong Chhnang in the Kingdom of Cambodia is a local school with an international outlook supported by Christians and Churches. We aim to provide a comprehensive range of curriculum for all levels (K1, K2, Grade 1 to Grade 6). We have plan to grow the school all the way to Grade 12 eventually. We started with K1 and will add a new level every year. Kindergarten Classes (K1) had started in June 2009. These first batch of students will be promoted to Grade 1 classes in January 2011. At the moment the kindergarten classes are held in a leased building. We are now developing the 5.22 hectare vacant site with a new school building in three phases.

Development Phases

Phase 1 – Kindergarten (accommodating Lower Primary), Staff Quarters
  • Be ready in June 2011
  • K1 and K2 (total 4 classes) ; G1 (2 classes) will occupy the premise in Jan 2011
  • Sufficient for 4 classes of kindergarten (K1-2) and 6 classes of primary levels (G1-3) operating in AM/PM session.
Phase 2A – Primary School
  • Ready before Jan 2014
  • Grade 1-3 and the new G4 classes will move from Kindergarten blocks into Primary School blocks, freeing the kindergarten to increase its intake.
  • 30 classrooms to cater for Grade 1 to 6.
Phase 2B – Sports Field - soccer, tracks and field facilities.
Phase 3 – Secondary School
  • Ready in Jan 2017 or not later than Jan 2019
  • 40 classrooms to cater for Grade 7 to 12.

Phase 1 – Kindergarten and Lower Primary comprising of the followings blocks:

Kindergarten Blocks
  • 9 classrooms (including library, computer room, music room, project room)
  • Staff room and office
  • Multi-purpose hall  with kitchen
  • Courtyard
  • Cater to K1, K2
  • To house G1, G2 and G3 until Phase 2 is completed
Primary School Admin Block
  • 5 family units of staff quarters
  • Staff room, Admin office, 2 special class rooms.
