Curriculum

Sangkhim Canaan School’s curriculum is based on Cambodia's national curriculum and will be supplemented with enrichment programmes and co-curricular activities. About 30% of the curriculum will be taught in English and 70% taught in Khmer.

Kindergarten Education

(K1 & K2) for 5-6 years

Children develop rapidly in the early years -physically, intellectually, emotionally and socially.

At this critical stage of development, we provide children with the best start to their education - to establish solid foundations on which they can build and continue to grow throughout their school years and beyond.

Lower Primary Education

(Grade 1 - 3) for 7-9 years

English Language, Christian Education, Art Education, Physicaland Health Education, Computer Course

The purpose of the basic education (Grades 1 – 3)

curriculum is to ensure that every child has a strong foundation in literacy and Mathematics and that they develop their health, physical appearance, moral understanding, learning skills and life skills.

Upper Primary Education

(Grade 4 - 6) for 10-12 years

Khmer Language, Mathematics, Science & Social Studies

Subjects taught in English:

English Language, Christian Education, Art Education, Physical and Health Education and Sport, Computer Course

Foreign Languages – options of another foreign language

The purpose of the basic education primary school (Grades 4 – 6) curriculum is to expand and consolidate students’ knowledge and understanding of Khmer language, Mathematics, learning skills, life skills, moral and personal development that will enable them to pursue lifelong learning and to introduce students to content in the areas of Science and Social Studies.

Students who have successfully completed the Primary Education will sit for the National Examination.

Note: Art education (singing, drawing, dance, music, etc.) Social studies will include Morals/Civics, History, Geography, Economics. Christian Education will include Bible knowledge, singing, prayer during the school assembly and a weekly chapel session.

Co-Curricular Activities (CCA)

Sangkhim Canaan School encourages every student to participate in co-curricular activities (CCA) held outside the normal school hours. The CCA are held once a week after school hours from 2 pm to 5 pm on certain days.

CCA include basketball, soccer, badminton and table tennis. There will be non-sports CCA such as Dressmaking, Mathematics, Life Plus Club, etc. The types of CCA offered will depend on the availability of teachers and parents.

Enrichment Programs 

Sangkhim Canaan School believes that learning can take place outside the classroom. We will offer enrichment programmes to expose the students to a wider range of learning experiences.

Some of the enrichment programs include foreign languages / cultures, computer technology, music, art and craft, cooking, dancing and origami. These programs are conducted in the afternoon, in modular form ranging from a day to a month.
